Each vintage, we make more wine than fits into the Caldwell portfolio.
Some of these estate wines—wines we believe in—are traditionally sold off as 'bulk' quietly disappearing into someone else’s label. That has never felt quite right.
These wines are still unmistakably Caldwell. Grown from the same vineyard. Farmed from the same 45-year-old vines in volcanic soil. Crafted by the same winemaker, Marc Gagnon.
In the past we'd sell this as 'bulk wine' to other Napa wineries. As of this year we've decided we'd rather see it go to you.
2023 Bulk Red Wine by Caldwell
Unmistakably Caldwell, oozing with ripeness and depth from our 45-year-old vines, it’s got a backbone of sophisticated minerals from our volcanic soil, and the structured finesse from new French oak barrels hand-crafted by our late Master Cooper, Ramiro Herrera. Dark and succulent, this Merlot-driven wine has exceptional structure and balance that’s underscored with our absolute favorite Block 18 Cabernet Sauvignon. Pretty and powerful, with notes of perfectly ripe blueberry and summer raspberries that linger long on the palate, we’ve crafted this wine to be enjoyed upon release, in copious quantities.

Five cases is a lot to pony up for something you haven’t tasted, so we’d be happy to set a time for you to taste at the winery, or you can purchase a sample bottle and we’ll refund the cost toward your 5-case lot purchase.
